Lions Club Celebrates 100 Years Dedicated to Helping Others

100 years ago Melvin Jones, an insurance salesman in Chicago, IL, set forth to form an international movement to improve the lives of vulnerable people around the world. This organization known as Lions Club International has now grown to thousands of members serving over 210 countries and regions around the worldThe New Providence Lions Club is a diverse group of more than 70 members, both men and women, young adults to retirees, all from different backgrounds and professions committed to serving our local community. Celebrating our 47th year of service, our mission is to give back to those with special needs in the New Providence Community.
Thanks to our active membership and generous sponsors we are able to support the visually impaired and many other good causes. 100% of the donations we receive goes to helping others. Our members are a “pride” of local men and women who use their diverse backgrounds and resources in unison to help our community as a whole and any individual with a need, to improve their living situation.
The New Providence Club motto is an expression of our respect for each other. “Never above you or beneath you, but with you.”
The New Providence Lions Club donates back to the community every dollar it collects. Being a Lion empowers you to help others in a way that no one person could alone.
