Mr. Renna,

I appreciate your candor.

Do you still work for Union County?

I have read postings about problems you might be having with your
employer. Are you suing the county or not? If so, please tell us why so that we
may know that you are not just a disgruntled employee lashing out at his
superiors.

Thanks.

Dear Truthseekr,

I like your name. Sorry it took so long for me to post. As you could see I do most of my posting past the midnight hour and can only do one or two at a time. I will always answer inquiries directed to me with the upmost candor. It is the least anyone should accept from a candidate or their elected officials.

Here are the answers to your questions and my response to your statements:
I do still work for the County of Union. I started working there in May 2001. I worked for the Division of Cultural and Heritage Affairs which is part of the Department of Economic Development. I was transferred on assignment to Runnells Specialized Hospital in February where I am a public relations officer. My resume is posted on my website if you would like to know more about my professional background.

I am not suing The County of Union but I am suing individuals who work for the county. The Freeholders announced, in resolution #310-2003, that the County will be paying the legal fees of the individuals in the case. This is public record and was presented during a freeholder meeting.

When I joined the county I was hoping to work there 25 years up to my retirement. The county tried to terminate me two times. Both attempts were unsuccessful and details of those attempts led me to sue the individuals involved. The treatment I have received since has been equally abusive. And, yes, it is a problem to work under these conditions.

I don't want to come across as disgruntled. Disenchanted? Maybe. Disappointed? Definitely. I'm disappointed in how far from the ideals of democracy that the county government has gone. I believe that the County of Union could be so much better and more attentive to the needs of the public. I believe the right combination of leaders can actually make a difference. County government has slipped into a quagmire of political muck. This is a problem with the system. That is why I don't lash out at any one person. I believe everyone is stuck. One person can make a difference and as a freeholder I can loosen up the tension that makes the county stagnant.

My run for freeholder is not a new idea or a whim. It is something I've been working for ten years to do. I'm doing it because I love the county. I lived here my whole life. I chose to raise my family here and to continue my career in public service. I say this with the most sincerity.

The party in power would love for me to go away. But my run for office has less to do with getting them out of office and everything to do with me being able to serve. I look forward to being on the board of chosen freeholders. I will be one of nine and would have to work with the others in order for things to improve. I hope they are willing to work with me.
