Joe Renna was born and raised in the Peterstown Section of Elizabeth, NJ. He now lives in Cranford. He and his wife of fifteen years, Tina, have two daughters, Angela, age 13 and Mia, age 11.
Mr. Renna is a marketing and advertising specialist supplying graphic design and printing production for corporations as well as governmental and non-profit agencies. He also publishes the newspaper "Around About Peterstown". Mr. Renna was employed by the County of Union as a public relations coordinator from 2001 to 2003. He ran for Union County Freeholder in 2003 and is running once again in 2004.
Joe Renna graduated with a BA in commercial art from New Jersey City University in 1982. He is currently enrolled in the masters program in public administration at Kean University and will earn his MPA this fall. Mr. Renna is a certified public administrator and a member of the American Society of Public Administrators.
Mr. Renna was active in the Rahway Chamber of Commerce for 8 years, serving as its president for 4 years. He was also involved with the task force that formed the Rahway Special Improvement District and then served on its board.
His community involvement has been focused on youth as a youth minister at St. Anthony's Church in Elizabeth and a mentor on projects at Roselle Catholic High School.He is also committed to helping St Joseph's Social Service Center in Elizabeth.
As a Freeholder of Union County, Joe Renna would bring his vast managerial experience, his expertise in business and his commitment to community development with him in order to help make county government more efficient and more effective.
Mr. Renna is an independent thinker and committed to doing what is best for the people. He has pointed out areas that can be improved and as a publisher, is running on a platform that would get the public more informed and, in turn, more involved. He is committed to cutting the tremendous amount of waste and passing the savings on to the taxpayer in the form of lower taxes and better service.
