Stay Informed with Livingston’s Emergency Alerts

Livingston residents can receive important local updates by registering for the township’s Rave Alert/Smart911 Emergency Notification System.

The system delivers information about severe weather, police emergencies, missing persons, traffic disruptions and other urgent situations. It also shares township updates, including program cancellations and road closures.

Residents must register themselves and their family members to receive notifications. The township encourages signing up for all three delivery methods, phone calls, emails and text messages, because not every notice is sent through every channel.

Critical emergency alerts reach registered contacts by phone, with additional messages sent to registered email addresses and cellphone numbers. Targeted notices can reach people in a specific area affected by a water main break, utility outage or similar disruption. General township updates are typically sent by email and text.

According to the township, contact information provided through the system is used only for police- and township-related communications and is not sold or supplied to outside entities.

To get started, visit the township’s registration link and choose “Sign Up Now.” Existing users can sign in with their user ID or email address and password to review their profile. Keep telephone numbers, email addresses and other account information current so messages can reach the right contacts.

A free Smart911 mobile app is also available for iPhone and Android through the App Store and Google Play. The app offers emergency alerts and options for managing notification preferences. Its optional Safety Profile lets users share household and emergency-contact information with participating 911 centers.

Livingston’s alert service is available to people who live, work, travel through or visit the township, making registration useful for commuters and family members as well as residents.
