Don't Throw That Away, Bring It to Roselle Park's Repair Cafe

ROSELLE PARK, N.J. — In a consumption-heavy world, it can be easy to throw away and buy new. The Roselle Park Environmental Commission is offering residents an opportunity to bring new life to worn but cherished items on Saturday, Oct. 10.

Roselle Park's Repair Cafe runs Saturday, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Casano Community Center, 314 Chestnut St.

Local volunteer experts will be standing by the Casano Community Center to help repair jewelry, clothing, small appliances, computers, knives, toys and more.

"We all have items collecting dust that could be given new life," said Mayor Joseph Signorello Jr. "This is your chance to get items repaired stress-free and free of cost."

The commission is recruiting volunteer "fixers" to support this event. No matter your skill level, if you are willing to lend a hand the commission is asking for your help. Additional information is available by emailing environmentalcommission@rosellepark.gov.

"Our volunteers work hard during every event to resolve repair challenges," said Roselle Park Environmental Commission Chairman Tim Coakley. "If you don't have anything in need of repair, I still encourage you to stop by and see the repairs in action — maybe you'll learn some repair skills yourself!"
