The chorus, a program of Wharton Arts with locations in New Providence and Berkeley Heights, participated in Borussia Dortmund’s World Street Series, organized with Street Soccer USA.
The experience began with a rehearsal at Carnegie Hall, where the young singers worked directly with members of the German orchestra. They then traveled to Times Square for a performance culminating in “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” Choristers proudly raised Borussia Dortmund scarves bearing the anthem’s message of solidarity.
“The musicians were incredibly warm and welcoming, and they made our young singers feel completely at home,” said NJYC founder and director Trish Joyce.
The collaboration marked a highlight of the chorus’s 35th anniversary season, giving students an opportunity to learn from accomplished musicians, connect across cultures and experience the power of performing together.
The chorus’s five auditioned ensembles serve students in grades 3–12. Wharton Arts offers need-based scholarships to help make performing arts education accessible. Learn more at NJYC.org.
