Garden Club of Westfield Names September Garden of the Month
The Garden Club of Westfield has chosen the dazzling garden of Judi and Jim Salvato at 576 North Chestnut Street as their September Garden of the Month. Mrs. Salvato is an enthusiast for flowers and she loves color. She wanted a garden with bright colors that would be a joyful place as well a place to find peace and relaxation during her hectic day. A garden with plants that attracts butterflies and bees was another goal. The Salvato garden has been perfectly conceived with a design that harmonizes colors, shapes and sizes. Luscious zinnias in orange, red, and white repeat at intervals across the garden and are complemented by vibrant yellow marigolds, black-eyed Susans, blue ageratum, salvia, speedwell, and Bluebeard with a dash of hot pink vincas and angelonias. Two stately hydrangeas crown the garden with their lavish white blooms. One will enjoy beautiful flowers blooming in spring and all through the growing season. The Salvatos also have a fig tree that produces 500 figs, and a vegetable garden with tomatoes and vegetables. However, it’s the vibrant flowers in the front of their house that provide beauty and happiness for all to see.
