Members planted fall favorites, including mums and ornamental cabbages, alongside new additions of “little blue stem” ornamental grass and marigolds. The refreshed displays bring a cheerful touch of the season to downtown.
The Garden Club of Westfield was founded in 1922. As of 2023, the club provided plants for and maintained five seasonal planters at the center of town, along with a rotating floral arrangement at the front of the Westfield Memorial Library.
Its work has also included maintaining the Blue Star Memorial By-Way in Tamaques Park, which honors members of the U.S. Armed Forces, tending several gardens in Mindowaskin Park, including Daffodil Hill, and caring for the shrub and perennial border at the Reeve House on Mountain Avenue.
Members meet to discuss horticulture, conservation, planting and local issues, and often hear from guest speakers.
