Livingston Announces 2026 Leaf Collection Schedule and Disposal Rules

Livingston’s annual leaf collection program begins in November. Residents may place leaves in the street gutter only during the scheduled period for their section and must keep them at least 10 feet from storm drains and catch basins.

Section 1, north of East and West Mount Pleasant Avenue, may place leaves in the gutter Nov. 1-8 for collection Nov. 9-14. Section 2, between Mount Pleasant and Northfield roads, may place leaves Nov. 9-15 for collection Nov. 16-28. Section 3, south of Northfield Road and west of the Mount Pleasant Avenue traffic circle, may place leaves Nov. 23-29 for collection Nov. 30-Dec. 5. All sections may put leaves out Dec. 7-12 for final collection Dec. 14-18.

Leaves must not be left in the gutter for more than seven days before scheduled pickup. The final day to place leaves out is Dec. 12. Leaves deposited after that date may not be collected.

Properties on Essex County roads and Route 10 must bag leaves in paper bags; unbagged leaves may not be placed at those curbs. Grass clippings must always be bagged or containerized and may not enter gutters, drains or neighboring property. Details and section lookup information are available at livingstonnj.org/LeafCollection.
